Filipino painter Nelson Castillo’s “Metamorphosis” is an outstanding example of art shape-shifting. While art dares the observers to discern meaning and discover value; they aim to create imagery that entices a retort and inquisitiveness, and if done well, art provokes thought.

Because of this imprecise and comprehensive nature, art spans an implausible gamut of ideas and themes, restricted only by each individual artist’s ability to convey their meaning. Even more, the meaning is something different in the eye of each beholder and that resourcefulness is the beauty of art.

Who is better to portray that than an artist, Nelson Castillo, who is enamored with visual illusions and tricks – making one thing seem like several from two different angles.

Sepia nude watercolour painting is a monochromatic study of a woman fusing the principles of figurative expressionism highlighting the deepest emotions while using only one colour to effectively express it. The seated model with her back to the viewer depicted from the high angle, looking sideways upon the figure.

Rafael Cusi’s sepia nude signifies primal emotion that is a core expressionistic theme of this artwork. Cusi’s brushstrokes drive the viewer to experience the bodily gestures, postures, and facial expressions communicating essential seductive state of being.

Kay Ganda ng Pilipinas Painting Contest 2016

“Kay Ganda ng Pilipinas Painting Contest 2016” is a national painting contest organized by KUNST Pilipino & Gallery and Macuha Art Gallery.

The Theme for this painting contest is “Kay Ganda ng Pilipinas Bakit Laging Binabalik Balikan”. The theme is nationalistic and instills the Filipino pride among the Filipino Artist and the Art Community. This is in line with the advocacy of Kunst Pilipino “Filipinism – What makes Art Filipino”.

The national painting contest is open to all Filipino artist ages 18 years old and above. The acceptable media are oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas, mixed media and watercolor.

Fun of the Past is organized by the City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan Council on Culture, Arts and Tourism in cooperation with Los Arcos de Hermano Resort and Events and Macuha Art Gallery.

The date of submission is on February 12, 2016. The judging of entries is scheduled on February 15, 2016 while the Awarding Ceremonies are to be held on February 25, 2016. Entries should be submitted on February 12, 2016 from 9:00am to 4:00 pm at Los Arcos Hermano Resort, Barangay Tungkong Mangga, City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

Noel Bueza, an acclaimed artist from Lucban, Quezon, Philippines, is famous for his rendering using pen and ink. Noel has created these masterpieces with his meticulous strokes of lines and curves. Sam Penaso is a native of Bohol, Philippines. This multi-awarded artist is a graduate of Technological University of the Philippines with a degree in Advertising. Known for his sculptures entitled “Metalscapes”, Sam Penaso is also known for the Stripe Walker series.

The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person according to Wikipedia. Precious Smiles Portrait Series are not only impression of a person by an artist, but an impression of my Family by an international renowned artist, Emmanuel Nim.

Emmanuel Nim has completed the Precious Smiles Portrait Series of our family. He started with the portrait of my wife, Stephanie Yvette, back in April 2015. At the beginning of this year 2016, and in just one day, he completed the rest of the portrait series for me, my son, Jae Jewel and my daughter, Joshua Yvette. A very good start for the Year 2016.
